We had a plan to restore the property, make it our home, and open a veteran-owned small business. The City said no. Look through our plan and judge for yourself.

Who we are

Dave

Dave grew up in New England in a small town similar to Columbus. After finishing a B.A. in International Affairs and a M.A. in Russian & East European Studies, he joined the Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer. After three overseas deployments, he rotated to shore duty teaching history at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. After that, he transitioned to the Navy Reserve, where he was mobilized for an additional overseas deployment. He currently works for a major online retailer.

Brian

Brian grew up in Oregon, but graduated from UW-Madison. After that, he pursued a Master’s in Public Health at San Diego State University before getting his M.D. at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine. After completing his residency and fellowship at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, he accepted a position as an attending neurologist and Assistant Professor of Neurology at UW-Madison. His family has deep roots in Wisconsin; in fact, his grandmother taught kindergarten in Columbus from 1951-1953.

Why do we care?

We did our best to buy the Dingee Farm for ourselves, with the intent of restoring its historic character and turning it into a veteran-owned small business. The City of Columbus had other plans, but our commitment to preserving the historic farm remains the same. We bought a different historic home in Columbus and now, as new residents of the City, we have even more of a stake in preserving this community icon.

We would still purchase the Farm, if given the chance. That said, we are passionate that whatever happens to the Farm, demolishing everything and turning it into housing is an affront to the City’s agricultural history. Whether or not the Farm ends up in our hands, we are staunchly opposed to its demolition and development.
